SEMYON – Damian Cooper

2-1363011229_Damian Cooper-20 copyDamian trained at Drama Studio London.  He recently played ‘DC Santos’ in Noble Cause Corruption (BBC Radio 4) and ‘Will Scarlet’ in Robin Hood (Independent). Notable credits include ‘Benjamin Braddock’ in The Graduate (The Space), John in Can’t Change That (Royal Court Theatre Local), Out in Holoray Holiday (Arcola Theatre), ‘Scrooge’ in A Christmas Carol (National Tour) as well as ‘Ariel’ (The Tempest), ‘Malcolm’ (Macbeth) and ‘Silvius’ (As You Like It) at The Rose Theatre, Bankside as part of their resident company.  He also played ‘Steve’ in Mikey The Pikey (Various), in which he won the Cameron Mackintosh Award.  Damian is very excited to be working again at The Space.

Cordelia’s first fully written play was also performed at the New Diorama Theatre, with All the Pigs Theatre Company and directed by Tom Latter.

lucySERAFIMA – Lucy Frederick

Lucy Frederick is an actor, stand up comedian and fat model based in South London. She trained at East 15, graduating in 2003 after being awarded the Mackintosh Scholarship. Lucy was a Funny Women Award Finalist 2012 and Amused Moose Laugh Off Quarter Finalist 2013. This is her fourth show at The Space, others include The Graduate in 2009 and Nicholas Nickleby in 2012. Lucy’s next project will be her first Edinburgh Fringe Festival solo show entitled ‘In Pursuit of Cool’.

Felicity trained at East 15 Acting School. Since graduating in 2011 film credits include ‘Katrina’ in Darren H.Christ (Blurred Red), ‘Mistress Zara’ in Reduced Seduction (Shaddow Group), ‘Sasha’ in 15 Minutes to Spare (Truly Inspired Youth Company) and ‘groupie’ in Svengali (Root Films). Felicity recently played the part of Lucio in Measure for Measure at The Cockpit Theatre. She is thrilled to be working at The Space for the first time.

Since graduating from GSMD, Neil has put most of his creative energy into Love&Madness, performing as: Macbeth; Iago; Romeo; Malvolio; Henry V; Caliban; Stephen Blackpool in Hard Times; Lockwood in Wuthering Heights; Captain Walton in Frankenstein; Sam Bolton in Only When I Laugh!; Richmond in Richard III; Martin in Fool For Love. – and directing: Accidental Death of an Anarchist; Fool For Love; A Taste of Honey; In Lambeth; Macbeth; Othello; Sweetness Follows; Romeo and Juliet; Twelfth Night; The Playboy of the Western World; Frankenstein; La Ronde; and Mirror Magic Market Tales.

CLEOPATRA – Danielle Collins

Danielle Collins is a recent Bristol Old Vic graduate. Her theatre credits include ‘Helen’ in Dennis Kelly’s ‘Orphans’ (Trafalgar Studios London) ‘Nicky’ in John Godbers ‘Shakers’ (directed by John Godber and Gareth Tudor Price,Brewery theatre) ‘Isabella’ in ‘measure for measure’ (performed at the Globe theatre for the Sam Wannamaker festival.) ‘Jaquenetta in ‘Loves Labours Lost’ (Circomedia Bristol) ‘Celia’ in ‘As you like it’ (directed by Andrew Hilton) ‘Dora’ in ‘David Copperfield’ ( Westcountry Tour) Danielle has thoroughly enjoyed developing and creating the character of Cleopatra. She has a great passion for theatre and specifically enjoys both  classical and comical writing.

‘Rhiannon’ is a Fleetwood Mac thing, not a Welsh thing. She is an active yoga bunny from Shropshire, who has enjoyed finding her inner minx to play Raisa. Rhiannon represented Drama Centre London at the BBC Radio Carleton Hobbs Awards before graduating in 2011. Exciting and award winning projects have since followed, with film credits including Death is for Losers alongside Mary Jo Randle, and theatre credits such as The Significant Other Festival and YouMeBumBumTrain.  Rhiannon is currently seeking representation; please visit her webpage for more details.

Theatre includes SOLD at the Pleasance in Edinburgh (winner of the Amnesty International Freedom of Expression Award 2011) THE EDGE at The New Diorama with Transport Theatre and THERE’S NO PLACE LIKE HOME at the BAC. Fergus has acted in theatre, film and radio. Some of these productions included ‘A Warwickshire Testimony’ at the Pleasance Theatre, ‘The Road To Durham’ for BBC Radio4 and the film ‘The Hindsight Bias’ for milkwood productions. 

  

 

Creatives

DIRECTOR- Adam Hemming

Adam graduated from Goldsmith’s college with a degree in English Literature and Theatre Arts. A writer, director and performer, Adam was awarded Time Out Critic’s Choice for his production of Jacques and His Master by Milan Kundera. Since becoming Artistic Director at the Space, Adam has continued to nurture new talent and develop the arts programme and in-house productions.

Adam directed the double bill of Tom Stoppard plays (The Real Inspector Hound and Dogg’s Hamlet), A Time to Remember, The Master and Margarita (in which he also performed as the devil), the Graduate, Twenty Twelve, Treasure Island, The Caucasian Chalk Circle and The Life and Adventures of Nicholas Nickleby. A contemporary of Matt Lucas and Hannah Waterman at the National Youth Theatre and a fellow of the RSA, Adam has recently become a father for the first time.

ASSISTANT DIRECTOR-  Chloe Mashiter

Chloe is a recent graduate who began directing whilst at university studying Philosophy. Her university credits include a Japanese tour of Twelfth Night; a self-penned adaptation of Zombie Haiku (selected for the International Student Drama Festival) and assisting on Much Ado About Nothing (Cambridge Arts Theatre). Since graduating she has assisted on A Progress (Yard Theatre), R&D for The Pied Piper (NT Studio), and Slung Low’s 59 Minutes to Save Christmas (Barbican). Chloe has also directed a number of short plays, including a piece of her own writing for Lost Theatre’s 5 Minute Festival. She occasionally acts, and recently performed in Future Cinema’s production of The Shawshank Redemption. Chloe is currently working on two interactive pieces which she will be performing in February and March, as well as an original musical to be performed in April – details can be found at www.chloemashiter.co.uk.

ASSISTANT DIRECTOR- Steven Shawcroft

Made professional theatre directorial debut last year with Class In Session, Teach Me which he also wrote, and ended up having to perform in, and operate when he wasn’t performing, which perhaps helps to sum up his various theatrical skills. Previous assistant directing credits for Space Productions: Kid Arthur and The Life And Adventures Of Nicholas Nickleby. Other assistant director credits: The Trial and A Matter Of Life And Death (both WorkSpace Productions)

SET AND COSTUME DESIGNER- Anna Soboleva

Anna was born and grew up in Riga, Latvia. Very soon she realized that theatre was her passion. She went to study Theatre Design in Nottingham Trent University and moved to London straight after graduation. Anna has worked with such companies as Blind Summit, Stage Punk, Acting like Mad and Space Productions. She sees theatre as a way to create new worlds. Anna believes that scenography should represent life in a beautiful and symbolic way, always discovering and showing life from a different perspective. For her, theatre is a unique domain where life and art become one inseparable thing.

SOUND DESIGNER- Keri Danielle Chesser

Keri got the sound bug at the tender age of 8 after watching “Monty Python and the Holy Grail” and again at 10 with Alfred Hitchcock’s “Psycho”. The use of foley and music scores interested her so she started experimenting with different sound devices and ideas, which has led to her being to professionally involved with sound in several capacities including the setting up/operation of sound equipment, radio production/presenting and finally sound design for the past 15 years.

Keri has been either self- taught or has picked up her craft on the job. Her most recent credits include Follow the Rabbit (Drunktank Productions with Theatre Giant); Jaded (Littlefish Theatre Company); Class in Session, Teach Me (Fear t’ Nasty Productions) and A Matter of Life and Death (WorkSpace Productions).

LIGHTING DESIGNER- Andy Shaw

PRODUCER- Mari Rettedal-Westlake

Mari graduated from Central School of Speech and Drama with an MA as a Creative Producer in 2006. She co-founded Space Productions in 2007 with Adam Hemming and has been the Creative Producer for most of their productions to date including the successful transfer of A Doll’s House to the Arcola in 2010. Most recently, Mari worked with Sebastian Rex on Fulfil Me Fully, Phil at the Space which got two Offies Nominations and will embark on Thomas Vinterberg’s Festen with Danielle McIlevn as Space Productions’ summer show. Mari is Norwegian by the way, and also founded MADDID – a Nordic theatre company based in London. She is currently working as the Centre Manager at the Space.

CASTING DIRECTOR- Rhona Foulis

Rhona graduated from Royal Holloway with a First Class Honours degree in Drama/Theatre Studies and English Literature in 2003 before working in arts administration at the Royal Court, the Tricycle, Perth Theatre, Theatre Centre and then assisting the Artistic Department at Unicorn Theatre for three years. Having gained a post-graduate diploma in Acting at Drama Studio London in 2008, she worked as a professional actress before moving into casting.
 
Rhona is currently Casting Assistant to Carol Dudley of Cannon Dudley Associates, as well as a freelance Casting Director. Recent casting credits include the forthcoming BBC Radio 4 drama Noble Cause and a UK Tour of The Woyzeck (Acting Like Mad / Theatrical Niche).  For the Space, Rhona assisted the casting for Fulfil Me Fully, Phil (dir. Sebastian Rex); Suffer The Little Children (dir. Danielle McIlven); and The Suicide (dir. Adam Hemming).
